Baccarat, also known as chemin de fer and punto banco, is a casino table game with low house edge and few skills required. It is usually played in high-limit gambling areas.
The goal is to correctly predict which hand will win, either the player’s, the banker’s or a tie. Each hand is scored based on its value, but only the rightmost digit is taken into account.
Game rules
Baccarat is a game played by groups of players at a table. The game uses six decks of cards, which are shuffled together. The banker is the first player to announce that they want to play as the bank, then other players can place bets against them in counterclockwise order. Once a player has declared that they are willing to stake an amount equal to the banker’s total, they become the banker for the remainder of the round.

Other side bets include ‘Big and Small’, ‘Tiger Tie’ and ‘Super Six’. These bets are offered alongside the initial bet and have a higher payout than the pair bet.
Some players use a strategy known as the Martingale System, in which they increase their wagers after each loss and decrease them after each win. This is a risky strategy that can lead to high losses, especially in the long run.
The best way to avoid huge losses is to set a budget before you start playing. You should decide how much you’re willing to spend in advance and stick to this amount. It’s also a good idea to quit while you’re ahead, as this will help prevent you from losing too much money.
Payouts
When it comes to payouts in baccarat, there are three main options: winning the player hand, winning the banker’s hand, and a tie. Each option offers different odds and payouts. If you win on the banker, for example, the payout is 1:1, but you must pay a 5% commission to the house.
